BoatsWalking throughout Giethoorn is a real treat. Around 180 bridges were built to cross most canals. However, there are also many private bridges that give access to the inhabitants' homes. The main path in Giethoorn is called "Binnenpad". Please note that this is also a bike path, but walking is permitted.
Giethoorn has a beautiful museum called Giethoorn 't Olde Maat Uus Museum, where you can learn all about the rich history. Here you can see an authentic farm inside. The fisherman's house and the boat house also give a unique impression of the simple existence in this water-rich village. There is a cinema, museum shop with coffee corner and there is also plenty for children to discover. A personal tour or an audio tour in several languages is available for free.
